Round 1: System Troubleshooting
Process: A 45-minute technical phone interview.
Topics/Problem:
- How to ensure the server runs smoothly during your supervision?
- How would you troubleshoot if something goes wrong?
- What could be the issue if user requests are delayed? (I mentioned checking DB logs for potential query issues.)
- How to quickly identify programs running on a server? (I suggested checking
/etc/configs for non-default services.)
- What are the limited resources on a server?
- What advice would you give to your uncle about maintaining a website?
Focus/Signals: The interviewer asked broad questions without a clear expected answer. I felt unsure about the depth of responses expected and suspect I didn't perform well in this round.
